Join Reading is Fundamental of Northern Virginia for the Book it For Books 5k/One Mile Fun Run on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Burke Lake Park (7315 Ox Road, Fairfax Station, VA 22039). The race will begin at 8:00 a.m.
Registration Information:
5k: $30 until March 15, $35 until online registration closes on April 28, $40 during packet pick up and on race day
Fun Run: $20 until online registration closes on April 28, $25 during packet pick up and on race day
Packet pick up will be available at the =PR= Burke Store (5715 Burke Center Pkwy, Burke, VA 22015) from 4-7 p.m. on Friday April 29. Then again at the race site on Saturday, April 30 starting at 7:00 a.m.
Awards will be given to the overall male and female finishers. Medals will be given to all Fun Run finishers.
Race shirts with the RIF logo will be guaranteed to all participants who register online by APRIL 20. Shirts will be available on a first come first serve basis for late registrants.
Reading Is Fundamental of Northern Virginia, Inc. (RIF of NOVA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to motivate children to read by providing them with high-quality, free books of their choosing and to work alongside them, their parents and their community to make reading a fun and meaningful part of their lives.
For more than 40 years RIF of NOVA has provided books to underserved children in Northern Virginia.
RIF of NOVA volunteers work together to distribute free books to over 23,000 children who attend schools, day care centers, and Head Start programs in the City of Alexandria and in Arlington, Fairfax and Prince William counties. Young children are also given books as they wait to get their check-ups at a Fairfax County health center.
RIF of NOVA's goal is to encourage children's early and sustained love of reading which will impact their academic success.
Additional donations will directly benefit the purchasing of new books for needy children in Alexandria, Fairfax, Prince William and Arlington counties.
