2017 Run for Shelter 5k/10k & 1k fun run

Ready, set, Run for Shelter! Carpenter’s Shelter is proud to host our 7th annual Run for Shelter, featuring a 5K, 10K and Fun Run on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 8:00 am. Proceeds from this signature community event fund Carpenter’s Shelter’s mission to support the homeless to achieve sustainable independence through shelter, guidance, education and advocacy. 

All the fun will start at the USPTO Building (600 Dulany St, Alexandria, VA 22314). The race will take place and run out and back on Eisenhower Ave. Parking is available in adjacent parking garages. 

REGISTRATION:
5k: $35 through September 30, $40 through Race Day
10k: $35 through September 30, $40 through Race Day
Fun Run: $20 through September 30, $30 through Race Day

Online registration will close on Wednesday, November 15 at 8:00 pm. In person registration will be available at all packet pick up locations. 

PACKET PICK UP:
Be sure to pick up your bibs and race shirts on Thursday, November 16 from 4-7 pm at Carpenter's Shelter (930 N. Henry St, Alexandria, VA 22314), Friday, November 17 from 3-7 pm at Whole Foods Market in Old Town (1700 Duke St. Alexandria, VA 22314) or on Saturday, November 18 at the race site starting at 7:00 am. 

AWARDS: 
Top 3 male & female finishers in the 5k and 10k and top male & female in the following age groups; 19 & U, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 & Over will receive awards.

SWAG: 
All those registered by November 1 will be guaranteed a commemorative race shirt. After Nov 1, registrants will receive a shirt on a first come first serve basis. Be sure to regsiter early to be guaranteed a race shirt!

Since 1988, Carpenter’s Shelter has been dedicated to ending homelessness.  Each year, our array of services provides nearly 650 individuals and families with the necessary training, life-skills and most importantly, the courage to move confidently from homelessness to permanent housing. Your willingness to partner with us allows Carpenter’s Shelter to continue to serve the most vulnerable in our community in an effective way, leading to sustainable independence.
