Register for 2017 Becky Epton Memorial 5k

In January of 2015, Pleasant Valley UMC lost a longtime friend to ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.  Becky Epton’s passing was felt by many in our congregation, and her friends and family still miss the woman who was a devoted wife and mother, a consistent volunteer in the community, and an active member of the UMW and our church.

A few months after her passing, there was some discussion as to how we could best honor the contribution Becky made and to remember the impact she had on our church.  It was in this discussion that the idea of running a 5k was first brought up.  We are now very happy and excited to share the news that what was once an idea has now become a reality.

The 2nd Annual Becky Epton Memorial 5k on April 22nd, 2017 is something we want to be an annual event in the South Riding / Chantilly areas.  Channeling the heart that Becky had for her family, for her church, and for her community the event will serve as a fundraiser for the ALS association.  A portion of the $35 registration fee will go as a donation towards research and prevention of this disease.  This is the best way that we know to give back and also to help us remember the kind of spirit that we are called to have towards caring for others.

Run (or walk) for fun.  For a friend.  For family.  For yourself.  Whatever your reason, we hope that you’ll take a morning to join us as we remember the life of someone who is so important to our community and do so in a way that allows us to also take time to be in God’s creation.

The Start and Finish line will be located at Plesant Valley UMC, 43987 John Mosby Highway, Chantilly, VA 20152, with a start time of 8:00 am.

Registration Fees:

$35 until online registration closes on Thursday, April 20 at 8:00 pm ($10 from each registration will go towards the ALSA)

You will still be able to register during packet pick up on Friday, April 21  from 5-7 pm at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church and the morning of the race starting at 7:00 am

Registrations prior to April 8th will guarantee a race shirt, while late registrations will include shirts where possible.

Awards: Top three male and female overall finishers will receive an award.
