Great Beginnings Recess Run, September 18, 2016 at 9:00 am
Great Beginnings Preschool and Leesburg United Methodist Church are teaming up for our 1st Annual Recess Run!! We are building a new playground late Summer 2016 and the proceeds from this 5k and Fun Run will be a HUGE HELP!
Our 5k route is located in Bolen Park (42405 Claudia Dr. Leesburg, VA 20175) on their USATF-certified cross country course. Bolen’s course boasts beautiful views for our runners and walkers but it is wooded so strollers are not permitted. Our Fun Run will take place on a paved course where strollers are welcome and parents are encouraged to run or walk with their children. We will have game, music and activities at our tables from our Sponsors.
Registration:
5k: $25 until Friday, Sept. 2, $30 until Friday, Sept. 16 and $35 through race day
Fun Run: $10 through race day
Shirts will be guaranteed if registered by Sunday September 11.
Packet Pick up:
You can pick up your bibs and shirts on Saturday, September 17 from 4-6 at the Leesburg =PR= Store at the Villages At Leesburg (1601 Village Market Blvd. SE, Unit 120, Leesburg, VA 20175). Bibs can also be picked up on Sunday morning at Bolen Park starting at 8:00 am.
Playgrounds are not just for “getting your sillies out”! They also help children develop crucial hand-eye coordination and problem-solving skills. Climbing and playing improve muscular endurance and flexibility. Climbing especially improves concentration and focus skills. When encouraged to climb and play, children are able to identify their own abilities and challenge themselves to try new things.
