2016 Run for Rights Surv5k

As a community, the District of Columbia can help crime victims and their loved ones across our city stand with, and advocate for, survivors of crime. Join the Network for Victim Recovery of DC (NVRDC) for the Run for Rights Sur5K and Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, April 16th at East Potomac Park. This event is part of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week 2016, a nationwide effort to raise awareness for crime victims’ rights and restore victims’ hope for healing and recovery.

The race will begin at 8:00 am, and all participants and audience members are invited to a finish festival following the race, featuring local organizations and service providers who work directly with victims of crime in our city.

Running a race is difficult. It takes dedication, hard work, strength, and determination. Take the challenge in honor of crime victims across our city. It’s more than just a 5K. It’s a journey we will take together in solidarity with victims of crime everywhere.

For this free event, we invite crime survivors, their friends, their family, and their community to come out to raise awareness for victims’ rights in the District and show their support for all victims of crime. While many 5K events are fundraisers, asking participants to pay an entrance fee, we are committed to making this event available to everyone regardless of financial means. Particularly because we know that crime impacts everyone, we are committed to creating a truly inclusive event that invites all victims of crime, their friends, family, and the DC community to show their support for victims of all types of crime in our city.

Thanks to Hogan Lovells and the DC Victim Hotline registration is free for all race participants!

The first 35 crime survivors and 65 supporters to register will receive a free commemorative t-shirt.

Packet Pick up will be held at the Potomac River Running DC Store, 919 F St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20004 on Friday, April 15 from 12-7 pm.
