Carter’s Run for Dandy-Walker
Please join us for the 5th annual (and last!) Carter's Run for Dandy-Walker on May 15, 2016. Carter Zimmerman is an 8-year-old resident of Ashburn who has Dandy-Walker, a congenital brain abnormality. Join his family and friends as they raise awareness of this little-known syndrome. All proceeds of the event to the not-for-profit Dandy-Walker Alliance, based in Kensington, MD, to fund a cure!
This unique event offers a 5K run/walk and 1K Fun Run! After the races, stay for the Fun Fest; it’s a great time for the whole family! There will be a performance by The Great Zucchini as well as other great stuff - face painting, glitter tattoos, balloon art, moonbounces, a raffle and much more. Feel free to run with a stroller and your family.
The first 350 registrants, ages 13 and over, will be guaranteed a reusable bag, filled with coupons and money-saving offers and a reusable water bottle. All registrants registered by April 24 will be guaranteed a commemorative dry-wick uni-sex race shirt (shirts tend to run a little big). All Fun Run participants will receive a commemorative award.
The 5K will start at 8:30am on a certified course beginning and ending at Ashburn Elementary School, located at 44062 Fincastle Drive in Ashburn, VA. Prizes will be given out to the top three male and top three female finishers of the 5k. Additionally, there will be prizes given to the top 3 finishers of the 5K, ages 12 and under. The race will be electronically timed, using the Chronotrack system. Results will be posted following the race.
The 1K Fun Run will begin at 9:30am, with the same start/finish line as the 5K race.
Registration is as follows:
5K Run - $25, after March 31st - $30, after May 12th - $35
5K Walk - $15, after March 31st - $20, after May 12th - $25
1K Fun Run (12 & Under) - $10, after March 31st - $12, after May 13th - $15
Online registration will close on Thursday, May 12 at 8:00 pm
Parking for the race will be available along the street on Ashburn Village Blvd. Please take care when crossing Ashburn Village Blvd. There will be a Loudoun County police officer assisting with pedestrian traffic.
