The Joe Cassella Foundation is proud to host the Joe Cassella 5k, a family-friendly event in Great Falls, Va. featuring a kids fun run and a competitive, ChronoTrack timed 5k run/walk in a USATF certified course. *Virtual Race:  Not able to travel or attend the Joe Cassella 5k this year?  We can come to you!  Register as a Virtual Runner by April 17, 2015. Packets will be mailed out to each virtual runner the week of the event and will include a bib number and T-shirt.  All children 12 and under running the Fun Run will also receive a ribbon for their participation. 

Each Virtual Runner must run a 5k course of their choice (not necessarily a race), preferably on the same day as the actual event (May 17) or prior.  Kids 12 and under can choose to do any distance.  Times must be emailed to jodi@joecassellafoundation.org no later than Wednesday, May 20 at Midnight.  There are no age group categories.  Children are not required to submit their time.  Virtual results will be posted and the top three finishers will receive awards. 5k Awards: Top three male and female finishers overall will receive cash prizes. Top male and female finishers in each age group will receive awards. All kids participating in the fun run will receive a ribbon and goodie bag.
 
Age Groups: 14 & Under, 15 – 19, 20 – 29, 30 – 39, 40 – 49, 50 – 59, 60 – 69, 70 & Over.
 
Team Challenge: Compete to win "Largest Team", "Biggest Fundraiser" or "Fastest Team." A minimum of five runners are required to form a team. For "Fastest Team", the fastest three times of each team will be counted. There must be at least one male and one female on each team to score.

**Select an existing team from the options, or create a new team name. Check the dropdown list of teams to make sure your team hasn't already been established. If you don't see your team name, please create a new team name for you and your team members to use.

Kid's Fun Run: The Fun Run is less than one mile and non-timed for children 12 years of age and under. Young children are welcome to participate with their parents. Every child who finishes the fun receives a commemorative gift.
 
Post-Race Celebration: The Foundation will host a post-race party for all participants at the Great Falls Village Center immediately after the race. Important Information: We allow runners to pick up bibs and T-shirts for their friends. T-shirts and packets will not be mailed. We allow strollers in the race, but for everyone's safety we require that participants with strollers line up at the back of the pack. The course has some hills and goes on grass and gravel at times.
 
Proceeds: All race proceeds will benefit theJoe Cassella Foundation to provide financial assistance to local families with children who are sick or injured so they can afford the medical care they so desperately need.  If you are interested in becoming a sponsor for such a worthy cause, please contact Jodi@JoeCassellaFoundation.org.
 
Directions to Great Falls: From the Beltway, take the Dulles Toll Road west. Take

Exit 45 on the left and merge onto VA-267 W toward Dulles Airport. Take the exit toward VA-7 W/Leesburg Pike. Turn right onto Leesburg Pike, then turn right at Colvin Run Road/State Route 743. Turn right at State Route 681/Walker Road.
