Register for 2023 President Lincoln's Cottage 9th Annual Freedom 5K

HOMECOMING at PRESIDENT LINCOLN'S COTTAGE
Freedom 5K| Tot-Dash | Family Fun Day

Join us for President Lincoln's Cottage Homecoming celebrations and 9th Annual Freedom 5K on September 16, 2023 – in celebration of the 161st anniversary of Lincoln's decision to issue the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation – at the very home where he drafted it.

Traverse a pastoral landscape that winds past ponds, open fields, and historic buildings on this breath-taking and challenging course. Located on the otherwise closed 250-acre grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Northwest Washington, DC, the run culminates at President Lincoln's Cottage, where a closing ceremony will take place.

See course map.

The race starts promptly at 9 am. Stick around after the race for a tot-dash (100 foot dash for our up-and-coming runners), and free Family Day event as part of our Homecoming celebrations – at a place Lincoln and his family called home.

President Lincoln's Cottage is a historic site and museum situated on a beautiful campus in Northwest Washington, D.C. Opened to the public in 2008, we bring President Lincoln's nation-changing story to life through innovative guided tours, engaging exhibits, and interactive programs.

Proceeds and donations from the run support our mission to preserve the Cottage and grounds to better connect people to the true spirit of the Lincolns, build empathy, and inspire them to act upon their own brave ideas for social justice.  President Lincoln's Cottage is an independent 501(c)(3) public charity and all donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Your support helps us provide transformative experiences for thousands of people each year and preserve this special place for courage, justice, and freedom to flourish.
