Heroes vs. Villains 5k and Kids' Fun Run

Ready to level up? Grab your cape, activate your superpower, and run, walk, or soar to the finish line at the 13th Annual Heroes vs. Villains 5K and Kids' Fun Run. The race scheduled for Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Fairfax Corner, will feature ChronoTrack System timing, a untimed Kids' Fun Run starting at 8:30 AM, costume contest, music, and a post-race buffet. The main event 5K race will start promptly at 9:00 AM.

Pre-registered participants in the 5K race will receive a premium t-shirt.  Every pre-registered child participating in the Kids' Fun Run will receive a t-shirt and a finisher medal.

This event has raised over $150,000 since its inception to benefit the Fairfax Law Foundation and its many community and pro bono legal programs.  This year we look forward to continuing the tradition.

Kids' Fun Run




Register in person or pick-up your packet Saturday, April 22nd at the Potomac River Running store located in the Fairfax Corner Shopping Center, from 11:00 AM-3:00 PM. 

Race day registration and packet pick-up will open at 7:30 a.m. and will take place at the Pavilion in the center of Fairfax Corner Shopping Center. 

Awards & Prizes:  Prizes will be awarded to the overall top three (3) men and top three (3) women, top three (3) masters male and female and to the top two (2) men and women in the following age groups: 9 & Under, 10–19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 & Over. The awards ceremony will take place following the race. 

  •     Prizes will also be awarded for best costume. Returning this year will be a costume contest featuring a judging panel. Costumes will be judged in the following categories: 
  •     Top 3 best Superheroes costume
  •     Top 3 best Villains costumes
  •     Best Heroes vs Villains: To be eligible team must consist of two runners in coordinating costumes
  •     Fantastic Four - To be eligible team must consist of four runners in same or coordinating costumes

Post-Race Refreshments:  Carrying on the tradition of previous races, 2023 will feature pre-race coffee and doughnuts and a plentiful post-race buffet. 

T-shirtsAll runners and volunteers will receive a T-Shirt.  

Kids Fun Run:  There will be a noncompetitive (untimed) fun run for kids beginning at 8:30 a.m. Medals awarded to all finishers. 

Timing:  The ChronoTrack timing system will be used to score the race. The system uses a B-tag, which records the exact time a runner crosses the starting line as well as the finish line, resulting in a net, or "Chip" time for each runner. Overall awards will be based on the "clock time," and age group awards will be based on "Chip" time.

Water Stations:  In addition to water at the start/finish, water will be available on the course just past the half-way point. 

Parking:  Plenty of Free Parking will be available in adjacent lots. 

Volunteer Opportunities:  Join in the fun as an event volunteer! This event relies on 50+ volunteers to be successful and we need YOUR help. Volunteer jobs include water station, race buffet registration area, or course marshals on race day. We will also need volunteers at packet pick up.
