2022 Purple Heart 5K

Register for 2022 Purple Heart 5K

The Purple Heart Foundation is excited to announce the very first Purple Heart 5K. This will be a fundraising event for all ages to join and run for the purpose of having fun and sharing great moments with family, all while benefiting our nation's veterans. This event aims to raise money to help fund the programs we offer to veterans in need, such as: critical assistance grants, PTSD resources, service dogs and academic scholarships. 

The race will take place on August 7th as a celebration of Purple Heart Day at 8:00 am.
The start/finish line will be at the Mount Vernon Trail Head, 3200 Mt. Vernon Memorial Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22309. 

Parking will be available in the Mount Vernon Trailhead parking lot. Further details will be confirmed closer to the date of the event. 

Registration Fees: 
5K: $35 through July 4th, $40 July 5 through Race Day
Online registration will close on Saturday, August 6 at noon. 

Registrants will be given a commemorative Purple Heart 5K t-shirt and a bib. Be sure to register by July 22 to be guaranteed a race shirt. 

Packet pick up at the race site, Sunday, August 7, starting at 6:45 am.
In person race day registrations will be accepted in the morning.  

Awards will be given to the top 3 overall male and female finishers. 

On Purple Heart day we honor the men and women who bravely fought for our country and were wounded in combat.

During the race, we will be accepting donations in many ways ,including a clothing drive stand from o ur partner, GreenDrop. We encourage you to bring along gently used items to donate such as clothes, small appliances, books, Cds, sports gear and even small furniture. 

Post Race celebrations include awards given to the top three male and female overall, as well as refreshments for all attendees!
