Join us for our second annual Courage Day 5k, a celebration of strength and survival

On April 17, 1999 our fearless leader Liz Sands was kidnapped and raped, an event that’s had a lasting impact on her life. Over the past 22 years, Liz has found meaning and purpose through helping and educating others. In 2019 she founded The Courage Closet, a non-profit organization providing support for sexual assault and abuse survivors. April is also sexual assault awareness month.

The Courage Closet is partnered with the INOVA FACT (Forensic Abuse Consultation Team) department. The FACT department treats victims of sexual assault and domestic violence in Loudoun County and the greater Northern Virginia area. Since April of 2020 the FACT department has seen a significant increase in victims and the violent nature of abuse. 100% of net proceeds go directly to supporting the FACT department.

We are offering both an in person and virtual 5k this year!

The live, in person race is at beautiful Franklin Park in Western Loudoun County, VA. Franklin Park boasts 200+ acres of rolling hills and views of the Blue Ridge mountains. This is a trail course, while not technical it is not paved.

Live event will start at 9:00 am at:
Franklin Park
17501 Franklin Park Dr
Purcellville, VA 20132

Registration fees:

There is no cap at this time for virtual participants

Packet pick up will be at the =PR= Leesburg store on Friday, April 16 from 4-6 pm, then again on race day, at Franklin Park starting at 7:45 am.
