The Van Metre 5K Run was established in 1992 to benefit Children’s National Health System. The event also includes a One Mile Fun Run/Walk inviting everyone from serious runners, occasional joggers and walkers of all skill levels to participate. To date the Van Metre 5K Run has raised over $2.4 million dollars in support of Children’s National.

Due to Covid-19 and the stay-home order, the Van Metre 5K will now be a Virtual event in June (the date is to be determined). 

We welcome all runners and walkers to join us in June to walk or run a 5K or One Mile in their own neighborhood, favorite trail, park or where ever you feel most comfortable. Invite your friends and family from any where in the country to join you, virtually! 

All race packets, including bib and shirt will be mailed in advance of the race so you can show your stuff while you run/walk the Van Metre 5K and support Children's National!

We know this year the event will look a bit different, but we are continually grateful for the generosity and support of our participants, sponsors, partners and volunteers who help make this such a special and successful fundraiser year after year.
