With the continued changes an impact the Coronavirus is having on our community, and after multiple conversations with our local government and health officials, the Ashburn Area Running Club has made the difficult decision to cancel the 7^th running of the Loudoun Half Races scheduled for April 18 & 19, 2020.

We know this comes as yet another disappointment in a long string of races that have had to cancel their running events, but we feel this decision is the right one for our participants, volunteers and community.

Please be patient as we work through the details of what a cancellation means to registered runners. Keep an eye on your inbox, as a detailed email will be sent to registered runners in the coming days.

The Loudoun Half Races

Saturday & Sunday, April 18 & 19 

The Ashburn Area Running Club is celebrating 7 years of Loudoun County running with its Loudoun Half Races presented by Inova Heart & Vascular Institute – Schaufeld Family Heart Center, will continue to raise funds for the fast-growing sport of track & field/cross country. Many high schools in Loudoun County, VA lack sufficient funding for their track & field and cross country programs.

In the past 6 years this event has donated over $100,000 to Loudoun County track/field & cross country programs which allow student athletes to fully explore the sport. The Loudoun Half Marathon & 8k raises money to supplement the schools’ budgets so that schools may enhance their athletic programs.

Races Details:

8K

The 8K course will start and end at One Loudoun in Ashburn VA on Saturday, April 18 at 8 AM. All runners registered by April 2 are guaranteed to receive an 8K short sleeve tech shirt. All finishers will receive an 8K finisher’s medal when crossing the finish line. 

Course will run through the neighborhood streets of One Loudoun.

LoCo Mile Fun Run

The Fun Run will start and end at One Loudoun in Ashburn VA. on Saturday, April 19 at 8:05 AM All runners registered by April 2 are guaranteed to receive a fun run short sleeve cotton shirt. The Fun Run will be approximately one mile.

 

Half Marathon

The half marathon will start and end at Broad Run High School in Ashburn VA Sunday, April 19 at 7 AM. All runners registered by April 2 are guaranteed to receive a half marathon short sleeve tech shirt. All finishers will receive a half marathon finisher’s medal when crossing the finish line.

The LoCo Challenge

Take on both the 8K and the Half Marathon and you choose to be a part of the LoCo Challenge! All LoCo Challenge runners registered by April 2 are guaranteed to receive a half marathon short sleeve tech shirt, an 8K short sleeve shirt, plus a LoCo Challenge shirt sleeve shirt. Each finisher will also receive an 8K medal, Half Marathon medal and a the LoCo Challenge medal when crossing the finish line.

 

Team Challenge

Make it more fun! Form a team for the 8K and/or the Half Marathon to represent a family, school company or a group of friends and compete against other teams! Register individuals as a team separately and list the team name when asked. Team name must be exactly the same for each team member. Teams consist of at least 4 & must include at least 1 female and 1 male. Top 4 finishers’ times will be combined to determine the team's time. Top 2 overall teams will win and receive an award.

Awards
Awards will be awarded to the overall male and over all female, second place overall male and second place overall female and to the top two male and female finishers in the following age groups for each race: 18 and under, 19 – 29, 30 – 39, 40 – 49, 50 – 59, 60 – 69, and 70+
