Register for the RunFit Kidz Fall 2019 Celebration Run

At the conclusion of the RunFit Kidz program, the Celebration Run is a fun ending to all the hard work and dedication by the participants. This is a non-competitive event designed to celebrate everyone's successes.

As a friend or family of a RunFit Kidz participant, you can experience the fun and joy as well.

All participants will receive a race t-shirt (that register by Oct. 31), a race bib (unchipped bib for adults and chipped bib for children and RFK Alumni), a race "swag" bag with giveaways and coupons, the race itself, and great post-race refreshments.

5K Adult(13 & Over) -no chip timing
$30 through October 31 - Guaranteed race t-shirt
$35 November 1-November 14. November 14 at 8pm - T-shirts as available.
$40 November 15 & 16

RFK Child Alumni 5K (shirt and timing)
$25 through October 31 - Guaranteed race t-shirt
$30 November 1-through race day.

If your child is a registered RunFit Kidz participant, then they are already registered for the Celebration Run. Please do not register your child. This form is only for family and friends only!

Race Day Timing
This event will be promptly at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2019. No runners will be permitted to start later than 7:35 a.m. so please arrive no later than 6:45 a.m. so you can get parked, pick up the race bibs and get to the start line.

Please understand this is a safety issue. We will be closing one lane on South Van Dorn Road until the last runner passes when we will need to reopen the lane.

Important Course & Parking Information
Please read the course and parking information below.

*  The course is mostly flat with one extended gentle uphill on Castlewellan Dr., however, you and your child should be realistic about your average mile pace when lining up in pace corrals at the start.

*  The course is open and vehicular traffic may be present at various times/locations. This is particularly true on the Edison school grounds which is open to the public at all times.

*  The course is run on interior roads within the Edison High School property, a short section on South Van Dorn and Castlewellan Dr.

*  At various locations, the course may include (but not limited to) any of the following: curbs requiring step up and/or step down and sharp turns. Rest assured that we prepare the course as much as possible in terms of eliminating as much risk as possible to offer a safe and enjoyable run.

* Parking is plentiful but please respect the course marshals, signage and barricades as some areas are off limits.

  Exiting may be very slow due to runner traffic – please be prepared for a SLOW exit. Runner safety is first. Course marshals will be managing vehicle and runner traffic.

Coaches will be sending course and parking maps as well as the vehicle flow plan in the week prior to the 5k. In the meantime, should you have any questions about the course or parking, please do not hesitate to contact Helen Russell at

Course & Location Information
Edison High School 5801 Franconia Rd, Alexandria, VA 22310

In addition to our course marshals, there will be Fairfax County Police Officers ensuring the safety of the runners on South Van Dorn Street.

There is plenty of parking on school grounds. After parking, make your way to the track to join the runners at the start.

Timing & Awards
All participants will have a race bib, however, in the spirit of this being a celebration to recognize the dedication and hard work of the RunFit Kidz participants prizes for finish times will not be awarded.

Finish times for the RunFit Kidz participants, alumni, and additional children under the age of 12 will be officially recorded and distributed after the event by the coaches.

Finish times will not be recorded for adults. We want to recognize the efforts of the children.

Post Race Refreshments
This year, each participant will receive a post-race goodie bag stuffed with a variety of prepackaged items. Just grab a bag and go. This will eliminate the lines at the post-race refreshment table.

We will have bins for any unused, unopened food items that you or your child do not care to eat. Please deposit those items into the bins.

Water will be available along the course.

Packet Pick-Up
NOTE: We can only guarantee shirt sizes for registrations completed by October 31, 2019.

All packets for RunFit Kidz participants will be distributed by the coaches during the final sessions.

All packets for family and siblings affiliated with a RunFit Kidz participant completed by October 31, will also be distributed by the coaches prior to the November 16 celebration run.

Packets for registrations completed between November 1-16 will be available at Edison High School on race morning from 6:45-7:15 am - we will close promptly at 7:15 am.
