I, Amber Kerico, am organizing this event as a part of my LLS Woman of the Year candidacy for the 2018 year. I am fundraising on behalf of friends, family, and most importantly Park View Alum Josh Griffin, to help end the fight against blood cancers. While I was coaching swimming at Park View High School, I got to witness Josh's strength and tenacity as he fought leukemia while competing on the varsity swim team. More often than not, Josh would do a round of chemo treatments and immediately come back to compete in a swim meet and practice for long distance events. Josh, your heart and perseverance has never gone unnoticed and this campaign is dedicated to you.
I hope to raise $100,000 in 10 weeks, enough to fund two blood cancer research grants in honor of my friends and family members with Leukemia & Lymphoma. Join me for the first #SterlingStrong 5k and we can put an end to blood cancer someday, and that #somedayistoday!
