Register for 2018 Navy Mile on Pennsylvania Ave
September 30, 2018, 8:00 am first race.
The Navy Mile on Pennsylvania Avenue is a series of one-mile race heats grouped by age and ability. All heats are for the full one-mile course on historic Pennsylvania Avenue that begins and ends at the stunning Navy Memorial. The U.S. Navy Band will be performing throughout the morning, with plenty of family friendly activities in the vicinity.
The Navy Mile on Pennsylvania Avenue is also the championship event of the Bring Back The Mile Grand Prix, featuring Olympic- caliber male and female elite athletes from around the world competing in their respective elite heats!
Here is how to choose The Navy Mile race registration category best for you:
Family Fun Run/Walk: This race registration category is for those who would like to run with their family members of various ages, such as parents with their children, and are not particularly concerned with their one-mile race time. All minors 12 years and under will compete in this category and should be accompanied by an adult runner. Adults can run in both the Family Fun Run/Walk and the Open race. Register first for the Open race and you will be given the option to add the Family Fun Run for an additional, discounted $5. Family Fun Run registration on its own is a discounted $10, with the option to add a race t-shirt for an additional $10.
Age Groups: The age group categories are for running enthusiasts who are eager to have their one-mile race time officially recorded and considered for placement and awards. Racers will be placed in heats according to their age and gender. See the schedule of heats below for detailed categorization. Age Group registration includes an official race t-shirt (size preference subject to availability). Open registration prices gradually increase up until race day and are capped at 300 participants per heat, so register today to secure a low price and your spot!
Active/Reserve Duty: Active/Reserve Duty racers will have the opportunity this year to compete in their own heat. All Active/Reserve Duty heat proceeds will be donated to a designated Branch charity of choice. If the heat numbers exceed 100, the Navy League will provide an additional $1000 to the designated charity.
Paralympic: Paralympic and Wounded Warrior racers, both those with and without wheelchairs, will race in heats with their mile times officially recorded and considered for placement and awards. To enter these heats, please contact us.
Push-up contest: In the spirit of solidarity with our Navy and Coast Guard wounded warriors, we are challenging Navy Mile participants to a push-up contest. How many push-ups (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Get-JgZvI0A) can you complete in 2 minutes? Awards will be given by age category to the top male and female participants. Test your total fitness while supporting the Navy Safe Harbor Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing essential assistance to seriously wounded, ill or injured Sailors and Coast Guardsmen and their families. [If you want to run the mile and participate in the push-up contest, then upon completion of the registraition for the race you can add the push-up contest].
Registration will be available during packet pick up on Saturday, Sept 29 from 10-3 at the =PR= Store in Vienna and on Sunday morning (race day) starting at 7:00 am at the Navy Memorial (downstairs).
