Transport yourself to yesteryear at the 2^nd Annual Historic Waterford 5k Trail Run/Walk. Bring your family and friends to experience this unique trail run through a quaint 1700s village – the only National Landmark of its kind – and its surrounding fields and trails. Along with the run/walk, there will be something for everyone. Spend some time in this beautiful rural setting enjoying food, spirits, walking tours and entertainment.

Part of the allure of the Waterford environs is its historic purity. Therefore, the trails are rustic and you may encounter a little mud… but that is half the fun! The race will benefit the Waterford Foundation and other local nonprofit entities. Please register by April 12, 2018 to guarantee a commemorative race shirt. Shirts will be first come, first served after the deadline.

Event Information:

5k Trail Run/Walk – Starts at 9:00am. The course will involve trails, fields, unpaved road, and paved road. You will have 1 hour to complete the race. View course map here.

Kids 1 Mile Fun Run – Starts at 10:00am. The kids 1 mile fun run will be on the Phillips Farm trail. Parents you are welcome to run with your child and you do not need to do a separate registration.

Historic Waterford Village Walking Tour (Free) – Starts at 10:30am. Walk with us through Waterford today and discover what makes this place so memorable. Hear the stories of ordinary people who did extraordinary things. They built a thriving town from wilderness; they endured a long and bloody war that threatened to destroy their homes and their lives; and in good times and bad they held tightly to their vision of a special place. Today their 18th and 19th century homes, mill, forge, corner store, Quaker meeting house, the one-room schoolhouse that served the African-American community, and the surrounding 1,420 acres of farmland, compose a National Historic Landmark. Waterford’s ongoing preservation is the work of the nonprofit Waterford Foundation. This is a 30-minute walking tour.

5k:  $30 until March 15, $35 through race day
Fun Run:  $20 through race day
Walking Tour:  FREE – suggested $5 donation per person appreciated. Donations can be made on site. 
Online registration will close on Wednesday, April 25 at 8:00 pm. 

Awards:  The top 3 overall male and female 5k finishers will receive an award. All 5k finishers will be presented with a 5k finisher’s medal. 

Swag:  5k participants will receive a commemorative race shirt and a locally handcrafted finisher medal. Kids 1mile fun run will receive a t-shirt and finishers award. 

Packet pick-up:  Registrants will be able to pick up their packets on Thursday, April 26, at the PR Store at the Villages at Leesburg (1601 Village Market Blvd., Suite 120) from 5:00-7:00pm. On Friday, April 27, packets will be available at the John Wesley Church (40125 Bond St., Waterford, VA 20197) from 5:00-7:00pm and at the race site on Saturday, April 28, starting at 8:00am.
