Register for 2018 Dulles Day 5k/10k On the Runway
The Dulles Day 5k/10k has been cancelled. The decision was made on Monday, September 10, based upon weather predictions and resource availabilities give the severe weather in the region. Keep reading for details on how to pick up your shirt, medal and bib and participation in the Virtual 5K/10K

Join the first-ever Dulles Day 5K/10K Virtual Race! Pick up your commemorative race shirts, United Airlines Bag, Bib and Finisher Medals and run your virtual race in your neighborhood, at home on your treadmill, or at your local gym, and post your pictures to our special Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/WATFIAD/ ! We will display the finish line banner at packet pick up, so be ready to strike a pose and upload those photos too. It’s your time to shine, show off your SWAG, and be creative!
All shirts, medals and bags will be available Wednesday, September 12, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on Thursday, September 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Washington Dulles Airport Marriott (45020 Aviation Drive, Dulles, VA 20166). Can’t make it Wednesday or Thursday?
Join us on Tuesday, September 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (extended hours) at the PRR Store in One Loudoun (20432 Exchange St., Ashburn, VA 20147). No packets will be mailed, but friends can pick up for you if you cannot make it!
A random drawing for a pair of round-trip tickets from that are good for anywhere in the continental United States that United flies, plus a weekend stay for two at the Washington Dulles Airport Marriott will be drawn from both the 10K and 5K registrants!!! No other prizes will be awarded. These winners will be notified by email no later than Friday, September 21st.

This is your opportunity for the flattest, fastest course in the area. The full length portion of the runway will be closed off for runners to experience a flat, fast course and a unique look at the airport grounds, something you do not get to do every day! Run past planes and along the actual landing strip on this certified looped course.
All race proceeds will benefit Special Olympics Virginia, the Committee for Dulles Community Outreach, and the Washington Airports Task Force, all 501c3 nonprofit organizations closely affiliated with Dulles Airport.
Saturday, September 15, 2018. The 5k will start at 7:30 am and the 10k will start at 7:40 am
The event will feature both a 5k and a 10k. The 10k will run the entire length of the runway! Both races are flat and fast.
All runners must be able to complete the chosen course and be off the airstrip by 9:00 am, so that the runway can be reopened for aircraft traffic.
Only registered runners will be allowed on the race course. Spectators will be allowed at start/finish line area!
There will be water stations available along the course.
· 5k: $30 per participant until May 28; $35 until August 5; $40 until online registration closes September 11, if space is still available. There will be no race day registration. All participants must register online by September 11.
· 10k: $40 per participant until May 28; $45 until August 5; $50 until online registration closes September 11, if space is still available. There will be no race day registration. All participants must register online by September 11.
Participants registered prior to August 17 will be guaranteed a 2018 Dulles Day 5k/10k Technical Shirt. All others will be given shirts on a first-come first-serve basis. All finishers will receive a one-of-a-kind Finishers Medal!

Top male and top female for the 5k will each receive a ticket from United Airlines, also good for anywhere in the continental United States, plus a weekend stay for 2 at the Washington Dulles Airport Marriott!
NEW EXPANDED AGE GROUP AWARDS!!! Awards will be given to the top 2 male and female finishers for each race in the following age groups: 12 & Under, 13-17, 18-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70, 71 & over. All awards must be claimed within 2 weeks of the conclusion of the race.
Packets will be available to be picked up at the Washington Dulles Airport Marriott (45020 Aviation Dr, Dulles, VA 20166) on Thursday, September 13 from 11 am -4 pm and Friday, September 14 from 2 pm -7 pm. Packet pick up will also be on-site race day morning starting at 6:30 am. You must pick up your packet at one of the designated packet pick up times. Packets will not be mailed after the race.
A: Yes. Please make sure your friend has your name and bib number handy for the packet pickup staff.
A bag drop will be available near the starting line. Please use the bag given out during packet pick up for the bag drop. We will be writing race numbers on the bags when left at the bag drop. All bags and backpacks will be subject to inspection. Please note: No weapons are permitted.
Free high resolution race photos will be available for download from the Potomac River Running Flash Frame page. Keep an eye out for our on-course/finish line photographers and be prepared to strike a pose!
Free parking will be provided by the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum, in the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center parking lot, located south of Washington Dulles International Airport, along Route 28, about 1/2 mile north of the intersection of Routes 28 & 50. Address: 14390 Air and Space Museum Parkway, Chantilly, VA 20151. The parking lot will open at 5:45 am. Please plan to arrive early, as all runners will have to walk through the museum to get out to the starting line. NOTE: The parking lot entrance will close at 8 am, no further admittance will be allowed after that time. The race will start promptly at 7:30 am.
There will be a security checkpoint for all runners and spectators upon entering the National Air and Space Museum. Please plan accordingly.
From Washington, DC and points south: Take I-66 West to Route 28 North (Exit 53B): Travel on Route 28 North for 5.3 miles. Exit at the Air and Space Museum Parkway and follow signs to the Udvar-Hazy Center. The parking lot will close at 8 am.
From Washington, DC and points north: Take I-495 West (Capital Beltway) to the Dulles Toll Road West (Route 267). Exit the Dulles Toll Road at Route 28 South (Exit 9A) and travel south 3.5 miles. Exit at the Air and Space Museum Parkway and follow signs to the Udvar-Hazy Center. The parking lot will close at 8 am.
The Washington Dulles Marriott will provide post race refreshments. Look for their tent and stop by after the race to refuel!
NOTE: Runners must be able to complete the 5k or 10k in 90 min, so the runway can be reopened for airport traffic. To allow for a few extra minutes, the final 1/2 mile will be on a taxiway. As long as you are beyond the final checkpoint coming off the air strip by 9:00 am you will be permitted to finish...allowing for plenty of time for everyone to finish.
Strollers (no registration needed for the child in the stroller) and wheelchairs will also be permitted, as long as they can complete the course by 9 am. Because this event will take place on the runway, only registered runners (with/without strollers) will be allowed through the final checkpoint to get onto the course.
Spectators will not be allowed on the actual course. They will be allowed to go to the stanging area with their runners as they start, then will be required to wait for them at the finish line. There will be plenty of room to cheer your favorite run on as they come into the finish line.
