This year the beneficiary of the Festival of Lights 5k will be NAMI Northern Virginia located in Reston, VA. NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness) is a non-profit chairty which will provide education and support to more than 6,000 Northern Virginian individuals, family members and friends and members of our community. Through their powerful "In Our Own Voice" progam, people living with mental health conditions are afforded opportunities to raise awareness about mental illness and to support their own recovery through the sharing of their own personal journeys. Our community benefits from this program by allowing participants to better understand mental health conditions and to learn that there is hope and that everyone can move toward wellness.

If you have time, visit their website and see what a differences they are making.

The 5k race will run through a portion of the light show. The entire race event will be all outside. This is a wonderful time to enjoy friends and family while getting an evening of exercise in before the New Year starts. We will have refreshments and awards following the race. All winners will need to be present to receive their awards. I look forward to seeing those that have run this race in the past and meeting all the new runners that haven’t had the pleasure of feeling so good after completing a 5k race on New Year’s Eve. It is a wonderful feeling to know you can complete a 5k race.

Happy Holiday’s and Hope we see YOU New Year’s Eve 2015!!!
